Frequently asked questions
Whether you're new to hypnobirthing or simply curious about how it could support your birth journey, you may have a few questions. Here you'll find answers to some of the most common queries I receive. And if there's anything else you'd like to know, I'd love to hear from you.
What is hypnobirthing?
Hypnobirthing is a simple, logical and profound principle centred on releasing fear and building confidence in the natural process of birth through practising relaxation techniques and being well informed so you can make the best choices for you in the run up to and during your birth.
Will I be hypnotised?
No. Hypnobirthing is not stage hypnosis. We use the power of deep relaxation techniques to talk to your subconcious to release fear around birth and reinforce positives allowing you to reframe the way you think about birth. These techniques are coupled with education around the physiology of birth allowing you to work with your body rather than against it.
Will I have a pain free birth?
Birth is always powerful, but it does not have to be painful. Every woman will experience birth differently and through education about the physiology of birth, I teach mums how to work with their bodies rather than against them to improve their comfort during labour.
When should I start my hypnobirthing course?
Whenever feels right for you! Some couples like to wait until after their 20-week scan for maximum peace-of-mind, some couples start in the first trimester and some even decide to enrol on a hypnobirthing course before pregnancy to help with tokophobia (fear of child birth). There is no right or wrong.
Is hypnobirthing only for natural births?
Absolutely not. The techniques and topics covered in my hypnobirthing courses will be useful no matter what type of birth you are planning.
Is it too late to start hypnobirthing?
It is never too late to start hypnobirthing. We can work together to find a way to deliver a course within a tight time frame if required.
What if I end up needing a caesarean or an induction?
A hypnobirthing course will empower you to ask the right questions and feel confident in your decisions if a caesarean or induction is offered to you during your pregnancy.
Are you ready to start your hypnobirthing journey?
